TCS to invest Rs 600 crores in Kerala: Industries Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Industries Minister, Shri P Rajeev today informed the Legislative Assembly (Niyamasabha) that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the world’s leading IT companies, has agreed to invest Rs 600 crore in Kerala.

The new investment project will be in the KINFRA Electronic and Manufacturing Cluster at Kakkanad in Kochi. The MoU will be signed soon. TCS plans to have an IT, ITES and data processing campus. When the second phase development of Rs 750 crores is completed, it will become a project of Rs 1,350 crores. The project will provide employment to 20,000 people in five to seven years.

The Minister also informed that land has been allotted for V Guard’s Electronic Lab, Testing Lab and Reliability Lab project at KINFRA EMC Lab. With an investment of Rs 120 crores, 800 jobs will be created.

Lulu Group will set up an electronic warehouse unit at Kinfra Apparel Park in Thiruvananthapuram. When the project with an investment of Rs 7 crores is completed, 850 jobs will be created.

A Food Processing Unit will be set up at Fair Exports Ernakulam Hi-Tech Park. The project is worth Rs 200 crores, the Minister added.
